Boyce Gardens

This magnificent garden, forest and park, covering 6 hectares, was established as a private garden by leading Toowoomba citizens Leslie and Margaret Boyce almost 60 years ago.

In 1969, it was given by them in trust to The University of Queensland, for the enjoyment and education of the people of Australia.
Visiting Boyce Gardens
Since year-round colour is the aim of Boyce Gardens, you should see a reasonable selection of the garden's approximately 700 flowering plants and shrubs whenever you visit.
How the garden grew
Along with cultivating the beautiful gardens and growing hundreds of plant varieties, the Boyces removed introduced species and restored the remnant rainforest and the natural ecology.
The Boyce legacy
The garden they built became known for its towering native gum and brush box trees, deviating from the 1920s and 1930s trend of planting European exotics, showcasing the Boyces' forward-thinking approach.
